Successful police recruitment campaign takes next step

A highly successful recruitment campaign has seen 100 applicants a month apply to become an officer in the WA Police.

Police Minister John Kobelke said the campaign was helping meet the State Government’s promise to provide an extra 350 police officers in this term of Government.

Stage Two of a $1million recruitment campaign would begin this weekend with television advertisements encouraging more people to become police officers.

“This part of the campaign targets local people and shows real police officers talking about the many benefits the job of policing offers,â€

Does anyone think they're just quashing the real problem with fancy figures? Sure, 100 people apply a month, how many would get through? I remember my testing, not even half of the people passed.

I dare say that of those 100 applicants, a good percentage would be ill prepared for the selection process, ie: Entrance exam, Physical components.

Then you have the applicants who want to become an Officer for all the wrong reasons.

Then you have the applicants who are selected and decide that Policing isn't for them.

So in the big picture, 100 applicants a month isn't really that much.
This is my signature, get you own!

before you had limited positions and a shite load of applications, so alot of people missed out, now you have lots of spots and not many applications, compared to say 10 years ago, so doing the math, you have a better chance of getting in, plus they have droped things, like colour vison, no longer have to jump a big fence, so people who may not have made it in, in the past would have a good chance now

So, if a doctor says that I can't do a beep test, due to a bad knee, is it still possible to join WAPOL?

Yeah I got a 9.7 :( I think 7 - 8 is a reasonable target, as long as you show some form of improvement whilst in the training.
