Can anyone advise what a Class 1 vehicle is? Also what does 'Priority 2 driver' mean???

am new to the scanners so im not too sure what this means..

A priority two driver, from my understanding from reading these forums, is a driver that is only licensed to drive at a max of P2 (+20km/h), i don't think they can operate P1 emergencies.
from listening all day, the majority of drivers are P2

does this help you out.
oh, and the vehicle is the type and of vehicle (most of the new cars are class 1), i'm not to sure what they mean exaclly though

just with the P2 driving and vehicle classes i though i would give you a bit of a run down.

examples:

Class 1 - Marked Sedan, normal commodore, sv6 so forth.
Class 2 - Unmarked Sedan, again commodore, sv6 so forth.
Class 3 - Marked Vehicles but not the best for UDD, e.g. rodeo.
Class 4 - Unmarked Vehicles e.g. Patrols, not very safe for UDD.
No UDD - "This vehicle should not be used for Urgent Duty Driving unless with expression permission from VKI Duty Inspector"

Priority Pursuit Driver: Top of the pecking order.
Priority One Driver: Drive fast but no chases.
Priority Two Driver: Priority Two Driver (P2 conditions)
Non UDD Driver: Un-sworns, recruits that haven't done there P2 driving.

BUT, an inspector and above can override these conditions and the 140km/h cap.
e.g. dieing child in armadale last year, on duty inspector removed the cap.

Inspectors and above can also authorise non UDD drivers to drive under P2/P1 conditions. (yet to hear of this)

So long story cut short, on certain occasions an inspector with authorise a P2 driver to go P1 if no-one else is avaliable

Note: from what an officer at work told me they are different P1 and PP drivers. I believes its now the same course (you cant go from P2 -> P1 driver its P2 -> PP driver) Correct me if im wrong. Hope this isnt an overload for some people.

Appreciate that!. That gives me a whole lot more understanding of who can and cant chase.. I was under the impression any officer could chase.. but it seems like its a similar set up to your 'Learners permit" and 'P-Plates'. haha

normally in the country, If a P2 driver starts a chase as soon as a PP driver joins a chase the P2 will be aborted. So i guess they do chase but only until someone more qualified is available.

I imagine metro is the same, anyone fill me in?

from what I've gathered yes, a P2 driver can make chase but VKI's preference is to put in a P1 or PP driver in, as they've done the course etc. I think VKI is also more likely to let the PP drivers continue the chase in conditions where the P2 driver would be called off.

Just confirm that for y'all.

Also... regarding being called off, also depending on what class of vehicle is doing the chasing.
