Are the Police Escort vehicles not manned by Police then?
The reason I ask this is that I saw TE453 out near Gidgee on the Toodyay rd yesterday and couldn't help but notice it had 'Traffic Escort' down the sides but 'Police' wasn't anywhere on the 4WD.

Sorry then, i used to drive a pilot vehicle so they must have stopped using police after I left
They started using civies about 12-18mths ago. They wear a brown uniform with a ?traffic warden? patch on their sleeves and baseball style cap. Be very careful as there is one of them who still thinks he is a sworn officer and keeps pulling cars over!!
An ex police officer who use to be in that section once described their powers as that of a lolypop lady at the school crossing( he was laughing when he said it).
They still do have sworn officers do jobs for them. Use to use guys from VES and I believe they now borrow guys from TOGs.
I wouldn't of thought that Escorts would of been civvies.
If their vehciles aren't been driven by sworn officers then they should have a different design of stickers and not blue and red lightbars to confuse the average Joe public.
As much as I dislike them, they are there not to protect the oversize load, but to protect the public. Joe Blogs will 9 out of 10 times pay attention to a police vehicle more than he would pay attention to a pilot vehicle. No disrespect to you pilots out there...
