Don't suppose they mentioned which suburb? I can think of some up the Noranda end, or there is one more towards Beechboro ...

There was an idea flashed briefly about giving towies access to the system for that reason, but it didn't get anywhere.

I suppose towies will have to receive jobs the old fashioned way - phone ins by spotters and calls from police - after they change over
It would make our job easier if we could get access to the system, but I doubt we would be important enough to get something like that-it will be interesting to see how things will go for towies when it comes into effect.

In Sydney, I have heard that the towing industry has been regulated(similar to the taxi's) and there will be only so many Smash plates up for grabs--certainly will piss off a few drivers if that came into effect here

Just picked up some digital activity on the WAPOL new 500MHz spectrum. Two techs doing some radio checks with VKI. Picked up the signal on my XTS5000 Digital portable with NO encryption active as i was able to listen to what they were saying.

Cheers

Once the system is fully set up I am guessing thats when it will become encrypted.

Just heard a female officer tell VKI that they are coming out of the station and will check the details of 2 VOI`s "On the way to the job". Sounds to me like the data terminals are in use in some vehicles and im only guessing here but i would say that TADIS is the acronym applied to these units and the operating system thereof.

Terminal Aided Dispatch Information System

? ? ?

I dunno, just a guess. In NSW and ACT they call their terminals CADS which is Computer Aided Dispatch System

Food for thought

GC101 wrote:tasking and dispatch information system.... its on trial in west metro also with TEG and other groups, great system, those scanner listeners would have been crying yesterday because the jobs were being sent to TADIS and not read out, so even when police go digital and somehow people can tap into the digital system, the jobs wont be broadcasted anymore anyway, they go strait to the TADIS,. and you get LOTBKF's on TADIS, vehicle and person checks, everything
*sad music plays*
uve done me well scanner over last couple of years
some good listening has been had*sob*
