New to the state so this may be a stupid question but can you still hear them in some of the regional areas.
Some locals say they can on crime report pages on Facebook but not sure if that is true

http://www.esperanceexpress.com.au/stor ... k/?cs=1268ESPERANCE police have ripped and replaced their regional analogue radio system and have moved to digital as a means of providing secure and robust communications for their officers.
The upgrade is part of a regional radio network replacement program, aimed at delivering a reliable, secure and supported digital voice network throughout regional Western Australia.
See your ad hereEsperance police Sergeant Beswick said he hoped the move would not upset their regular police radio listeners.
"We are sorry if we have disappointed people who listed the police radio as one of their more frequented stations," he said.
"The new digital encrypted network has been rolled out across the districts and will provide police with increased network security and better range."
Sgt Beswick said the move to digital had also cleared up some of the radio "dead-spots."
The change from analogue to digital took place last week.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio
I can get the (Narrogin?) channel 11 analogue fairly well here - lots of LN2xx cars doing vehicle checks. So still quite a bit of analogue in the country areas.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio
Any Police scanners online for any of the country areas up these days?
Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio
45,000 km digital radio network to aid WA emergency services
The network covers Perth and regional areas of the state including the Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance, Mid-West and South-West regions. According to the WA Police, it covers almost 95 per cent of the population. The network features radio encryption so that WA Police, DCS and FESA can talk without risk of being overheard by criminals who own police scanners.
As part of the rollout, 3,000 Motorola ASTRO P25 radios will be provided to police, ambulance and fire service staff.

Hhmm... hard to believe an apparently new article that refers to FESA, which hasn't existed for quite some time, and uses the term "police scanner".

An interpretation of this article maybe?
http://prwire.com.au/pr/44939/news-rele ... ural-areas
I did notice that Motorola announced the completion of the project. So the comment that 3000 radios *will be* provided should perhaps be *were* ?
