Just heard CM153 asking for a radio check on 6AR. That's a new one on me...

Anyone know what that vehicle could be?

WAPOL ran out of channels and want to use 6AR? :D

All my searches were empty.

Complete guess but I wonder if the vehicles associated with Task Force Vulcan have been fitted with DFES radios. Could be a combination of convenience (talking to incident controllers at a fireground) as well as safety (if they're on the fireground at an active fire, it'd be good for them to be using the same radio network as everyone else).

If I had to guess, that's what I'd say it'd be...

Sometimes we will supply police with a handheld or mobile radio at an incident if they require communications with us on channels other than ESA and ESB.

Most of the time at large enough incidents there is a liaison officer whom messages are passed through.

I was there. Vulcan crew had their own vehicles. I didn't get to peek at the radios. Will see if I can have a chat with some of them and take a look at the radios.

Really lovely British accents with those guys.

Most stations in the country have DFES radios.
