WAPOL Encryption Cipher

Quick question - Just curious, does anyone know what encryption cipher WAPOL run for P25.

Don't know for certain, but since it's a P25 system, it's probably DES, maybe AES.

AES-256 which is the same for SJA

IIRC, the AES-256 is only the encryption standard used when starting and ending the transmission, the voice data is something less secure.

I may be very wrong though.

Yes, you are very wrong as you predicted.

AES-256 is used for the entire voice transmission from start to end. If a less secure format were to be used, the radio would be using it from the start i.e. DES-OFB.......

85% of users will not have an option to choose as the KID slot is strapped to the talkgroup. only specific units with multiple KID's will have access to select them on demand(which is quite easy).
