XR6 Turbos

Post by Tom »

Hi Folks,

Are there still any XR6 turbo's knocking around in the WAPOL fleet?

I see plently of WRX's and Territory's from from time to time but it's been a while since I've sighted a XR6T.

Anyone seen one lately??

TEG had an old one that was attached to the booze bus. Last I saw of it was about two months ago.

Also the only other one I know of is an ex MIG black unmarked that went to another section (I won't name where). But have not seen it for 12 months.

I think that's it

I haven't seen any turbos but I have definately seen XR6's and SV6's back on the road - all unmarked mind you.

I was under the impression normal XR6's were not used it was only ever XR6T's for the extra power?

Not much point running a plain XR6 over an XT, same engine etc.

Apart from the fact the base XT's look like a boat on a trailer, they must handle very poorly and with those nasty alloys they look very 'family car-ish'.

Thanks Robo TE217 is still a turbo. TE202 was a later delivered (the last of the WAPOL ones had the 18" alloys) silver turbo in normal GD markings, but I haven't seen this one in a while.

A couple of country stations still have them I believe Mandurah and Broome.

Saw an XR6 unmarked kicking around the carpark when I was in the city. I wasn't close enough to see if it was a Turbo, but I'm guessing they will all be non Turbo's?

Also marked UQxxx SV6 wagon driving about.

On an unrelated note, I notice they had an uptake of WRX's but not Astra's

The XR6 has the same engine in it to the base XT they drive now, it is no faster.

The XR6 handles heaps better than the base XT model and is a whole lot nicer to sit in..

The Commodores dont even compare to the Falcons in my eyes.. Although both the Falcon and Commodores look like boats..

Atleast the Falcon might actually float... Unlike the old LN201 hey Kilmo! ;) haha
