conflicts of interest

after watching the whole midland bike chase/byte/chev4evr/whoever else threw 2 cents worth towards the whole situ, i thought it must beg the question: when does an officer find himself in a conflict of interest?
dont get me wrong i have enough common sense to realise what a jerk 'byte' was for coming her and bragging or whatever you would call it, but i was MORE surprised to see the supposed officer (i am not doubting chev4evr was one of the arresting officer) come here and challenge byte on the claims that were made.
for chev4evr to come here and effectively 'contact' byte could quite possibly have jeapordised the subsequent prosecution case in court.
maybe its just me but i thought that was highly unproffesional behaviour and rather than retorting here and possibly messing up the whole court case he should have either submitted 'byte's post to the court prosecution as evidence of an admission,(which may or may not stand up in court, im not sure) or asked one of his superiors what thier take on the situation was, either way i think it was highly unprofessional to take it upon himself and possibly risk having the case fall through and having this jerk walk free.(minor technicalities can mean alot in court)
to add further insult to injury he goes on to 'wisely' inform that he shouldnt "use a public forum to air his allegations" and that "if he has an issue with the way he was arrested he should direct it through the proper channels"
i dont know maybe its just me but maybe he should heed a little of his own advice.
sorry to rehash such an old topic but i just thought i would throw in my thoughts on this as noone else seemed to make this observation.
i just thought police would be alot more professional than that and possibly take the right avenues rather than taking it upon themselves to make a personal attack in public, considering there were quite a few police members at the scene when byte was apprehended and none of them felt the need to come here and comment, it begs the question as to what chevs motives were for posting what he knew here.
i wonder if the other arresting officers are aware that he did this and what their thoughts on that type of tactic are.
feel free to flame my a s s but these are just my honest observations.

G'day connor,

Interesting post although if you read the original post that started the whole thing I personally think that CHEV4EVA's response was quite neutral and mature, all he basically said was that he was the 'one that caught him' which is pretty ambiguous.

I would of thought that 'byte' coming on here bragging about what he'd done would of actually worked in the arresting officers case favour and given them more concrete evidence.

If CHEV dude would of come on here and used his rank/regimental etc.. then that might be different, but you need to take into account coppers are entitled to an opinion only and he was just expressing his.

cheers

Tom

Here we go again, can't believe its been a month and its risen its head again...

Perhaps instead of creating a new post on one that was closed for good reason you should have PM'd CHEV4EVA and expressed your concerns.

I agree with Ludacris on this one. Before things get out of hand I will lock this thread and if any has anything to say in regards to the byte incident pm the person who brought the issues up dont use the main forums please. This may seem premature but for those who remeber look what happened last time.
