General CHOGM discussion thread

Post by Bonez »

Hi all,

Thought I would start a general CHOGM discussion thread on here. This thread is not for pictures, but discussion.
I live in Subi so am constantly bombarded by the sound of helecopters at the moment. It's a bit annoying but I can handle it!

I just saw a chopper fly over head, and it had flashing blue and red lights. I'm assuming it's one of the interstate choppers from NSW, SA or VIC. It looks really awesome with the bright lights flashing up in the sky.

I went into the city on Saturday and saw all the CHOGM signs everywhere, and after a couple of bog laps of St Georges Tce and Riverside drive, I saw no less than 200 police on foot.

Driving towards Midland on Friday night, I followed a Transperth bus that seemed to be stopping at every single hotel along Gt Eastern Hwy, and at each stop about 20-30 interstate police officers got off and walked into the hotel.

Also saw a brand new 2011 Subaru WRX hatchback, deep black in colour driving around the city with 4 WA cops in it.

What have you seen so far that's interesting? Perth is really busy at the moment!

I'll ask the first question: What is the callsign for the second WAPOL helicopter?

The F18 flying really low west over Herdsman Lake this afternoon was pretty impressive

Two FA18 over Freo this arvo. There has been heaps of cops at Claremont showgrounds over the few weeks leading up to the royal show but this morning there was even more and the train stopped at Showgrounds station. Noticed a dual cab ute with HF antennae and no call sign in Freo this arvo and the cops had those old fashioned white hats. Looked odd.

Ahhh the old style hat's. I saw them this afternoon on two officers. I thought those hats were for 'dress' uniforms

They used to wear them all the time until someone probably pointed out they look gay. Maybe they are trying to look all gay and merry for the queen. But they make Wapol look like a police force stuck in colonial times.

Spent the day in the city , very interesting , 2nd helicopter is NSW also just took pic of SA Serco Armoured thing similar to WA's lots of cars vans trucks boats and alike also seems to be lots of WA cars with clean white panels with the rest of the car marked, also seen 3 marked ford transit vans with cages over the windows with riot squad people in them.

Pics later in the appropriate thread arrived a few days ago and have yet to unpack a computer didn't get everything on camera.

Think I upset an Occupy Perth protester in the city during CHOGM after the BBQ. Had a sign mentioning war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pointed out that he spelt it "Afgan" and that was a 'H' in Afghanistan. He was quite offended I pointed that out. Like I punched he sainted mother in the face.

I don't about others but if I was protesting a particular cause i'd make sure everything was spelt right as I believe it's how well that you articulate your argument is what counts. By not even being able to spell properly, particularly a country that you are protesting about it demonstrates that you know very little about what you are protesting about. Just my view and I'm praying that in this I've spelt everything correctly.
