Ch 21 1415 Chase started in Scarborough and went around Wembly and back to Scarborough ending with POI crashing another car and police car damaged in Hutton st, POI in custody, Police car has to be towed as well as POI vehicle, other car nil damage, chase reached speeds 140 klms.

when did they say speed was 140kms???? i never heard it mention

was a strange chase with the drive zig zagging all over the place in and out of streets and back onto the same street again and indicating everywhere... didn't exceed the speed limit by over 20km from what i heard.

POI was tazzered aswell.

From what I heard, he didn't commit any offence, other than fail to stop, until he hit the freeway. It almost worked. The pursuing car was almost out of fuel.

I would have thought under current legislation that people, ie such as police officers and Tow truck operators should, or would have to wear safety reflective vests at the scene of an accident. observing last night, a tow truck operator wearing leather sandals and no safety vest, and a police officer, both on the road at night time, neither were wearing appropiate safety gear??

I would, even if there was no legislation. I carry red cyalumes and cable ties in my car. Strap them to anything, including people if you need to.
Maybe the towie was wearing Safety Sandals :)

Thank you for your very interesting email regarding the traffic incident.

You are correct the Police Officer and Tow Truck Operator should have been wearing a reflective vest. However worksafe can only act when the hazard is ongoing. As this accident has been cleared and the police officer is no longer there, the hazard has been removed.

In regard to the tow truck driver not wearing protective shoes. There is no legal requirement for tow truck drivers to wear enclosed shoes. This is up to the Police Officer on the scene. He must assess the hazards and decide if protective footwear is required.

Good news after Ch 21 had 4 cars searching all around Morley from 6pm, namely the Galleria shopping center for a missing 5 yr old girl, eventually it appears some one found her and to her took Central Police Station, where the good news broke.
