Hey Donks well done ! hope your wait goes quickly.
As for me, I was not so lucky. Got knocked back. Will apply again when my times comes though. Was told applicants are now only allowed 3 shots at applying before they get a Letter saying dont bother re applying. That has me worried a bit but will give ot my best next time. Hardest bit about it was that they dont give you a particular reason as to why you were knocked back. So I will do everything I can to get in next time.
congrats on making it into the pool ! you will be in the Academy in no time.
Take care mate

Oh mate are you serious? Sorry to hear that! After all the efforts you put in to it! When can you re-apply? can you do it right away or do you have to wait 12months? I hope you dont give up mate and wish you the best of luck for next time around!!!

Re: Soo sent off my ap
Im not to sure. If you fail the written exams, I believe you can re apply in 6 months. then you have your psych and I think its 18 months if they think your not suitable. Then you go on to do your physical and if you dont pass that you can have another shot at in in a few weeks time. I may stand corrected though.
I finished everything and waited 7 weeks before getting a letter saying my application was declined.
Its a very long wait especially when Policing is all I want to do as far as a career goes. I will give it another go as soon as my 18 months is up. Just not too sure what I need to improve on because they dont give you a specific reason.
Good luck guys.

Re: Soo sent off my ap
Hi everyone. It's been about a year since I had a good read of this forum. This thread was particularly interesting and the information I've just read here confirms other information I've read and been told in the past, which is:
WA Police sworn recruitment branch do not give feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
I've always wondered about this.
I was reading Wadesta's posts above… He passed the written exam, psychological interview and the fitness test, waits almost two months hoping for a letter about the next stage but instead he's sent a letter stating that his application is declined and there will be no feedback as to why?
If recruitment does not give feedback, how is the applicant supposed to know what areas to work on for next time round?
Does anybody know the reason for this non-communication and non-feedback policy by recruitment? Has anybody asked for their reasons for this?
As a public agency, two of the organisational values of WA Police is openness and fairness, though it wouldn't seem open or fair for someone who apparently passed all the tests, got 'knocked back' at the last hurdle and then is barred from knowing the reasons.
At one stage I was very seriously considering applying to a sworn position in the WA Police, even completing a preparation course in order to brush up on my mathematics skills and gain all of the information I could on the recruitment process. Unfortunately I was never able to apply due to a sports injury hampering my ability to run over long distances - meaning I would never be able to fulfil the physical requirements of a frontline police officer.
Still interested in law and justice and still determined to work in the field I looked at other options and ended up applying for and being offered various contracts within WA Police (civilian positions) and other WA law and justice agencies where I have been performing specialist roles.
I know for a fact, that if I was unsuccessful in those other jobs I would have had the opportunity for full and detailed feedback upon my request.
Why don't sworn recruitment branch give this opportunity?

Re: Soo sent off my ap
The only thing you dont get feedback on is the psych. And that is quite simply because its not a test, it's an assessment of you as a person and your suitability for the job, therefore it is not something that you can practice or study-up for. Knowing what the 'correct' (if there were any) answers would compromise the integrity of the testing.

It's good to see this forum still active…
Thanks a lot for the reply singkenten - and I read you were an applicant who's taken part in the process and succeeded - congratulations on that!
Well, curiosity got the better of me and today I gave recruitment a ring asking such questions. They were very helpful and replied that they actually do offer 'general' feedback to an applicant if they are unsuccessful - which of course conflicts with the 'no feedback' information I've heard previously from others. Though they would not be able to give out detailed specifics, obviously due to the reasons you mentioned. As far as the psych goes, the MMPI questionnaire (I believe this is the type of test they would use) and one-on-one interview, I guess it just depends if you fit into their box and match the particular attributes their looking for.
A final word - good luck to all of those applying and re-applying!

Hey everyone,
So I'm sending in my application in on Monday.
Can anyone please tell me the process I will go through from them receiving my app?
Also does anyone know a rough time frame I should expect on when I will start training if I am successful?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Soo sent off my ap
hey misskate,
I sent my application in march this year and have been accepted for the january intake, so your looking at around a 12 month wait. You will probably here from them in 4-6 weeks and then receive another letter in a couple of more weeks letting you know your assessment dates. Good luck
