It will have a lag time from 30 seconds to 120 seconds at this stage, and some job codes will flag with Police Media or Comms Supervisor (like Sudden Death with no immediate information) to hold onto them for a little while before releasing onto MATCAD.
Initially it will be username / password system, and eventually will move to a token based security system (like banks use).
Media will be given access as soon as it is reliable. It is currently in use in Queensland.
last time I spoke to someone in QLD they were to get access to the system, but it hadn't happened as of yet.
Will it only be the police frequencies encrypted?
Either way, i guess there will still be plenty to listen to, even though the police channels are my favourite.

Did anyone go to the presentation of MATCAD on the 18th December? I couldn't make it and was wondering their thoughts. Police are looking to roll it out in Feb 2008..

No, Digital is only for Metro Areas!
In the future yes more than likely, but there's no real need at this time. The main priority is to have metro areas equipped with TADIS/Digital.
Regional areas barely have access and/or use CAD let alone are thinking of going digital.
