Recomended Channels?

Post by charger_72 »

g'day
after many years i've decided to get out the scanner, now the embarrasing part, this beast (bearcat lol) has a whole 10 channels, so i thought i might just give it a go and see if it interests me first before splashing out on a new scanner only to never use it. so i had a look at the frequency guide which has 64 channels. So i am asking for any recomendations to fill my 10 channels. you dont have to write out the frequency just the channel number of any recomended channels. I am south of the river but i live on top of a hill so i would get reasonable reception. i've punched in a couple of codes that are "south" and i am in buisness but would like to see your opinions on some busy/exciting channels.

I'd assume most of you blokes get on the channel 3/8 repeaters? i used to but my power supply dropped its guts so i lost interest, perhaps anyone has any cheap?

thanks.

Just pick the regoins that you want and recieve best. Remember you only need one channel per Reqion (IE 2/8/12) are Southside, but you only need one of them - whichever you receive best.

For metro police (at least untill analogue disappears) i use the following 6 channels. Seems to get me by most of the time (depending on location and weather).

Fremantle 47
Cannington 8
Joondalup 50
Midland 54
Mirrabooka 21
Perth 13

I'm staying in bullcreek at the moment, how about everyone nominate there favourite police channel? how about what channels are cannington, murdoch remember I've only got 10 channels to work with, if i were to get a better scanner it would be at least 2weeks before i'd have one, so for now i want to get the most out of my 10 channels...........
i appreciate how quickly people reply, i've never been on a forum where so many people post with hours.

I scan the following without problems (from Rockingham with 100ft antenna)

ch02 - 467.875 - Southside
ch16 - 468.225 - Fremantle
ch21 - 468.350 - Mirrabooka
ch46 - 468.975 - Northside
ch48 - 469.025 - Joondalup
ch58 - 469.275 - Enquiries
ch64 - 469.425 - Rockingham Special Ops(?)

Seems to cover majority of radio-traffic.
Never really had any joy with the Perth channels, dunno why...
