Does anyone have any Interesting Audio to Post?
eg, Chases, or Officers calling Urgent to VKI?
Always interesting to hear, so would be great if someone
had some audio clips to listen to.
Cheers
A!

Re: Police Audio
I hate to be a party pooper, but I'd much rather we didn't. As interesting as that would be, it would be a breech of copyright. Unless of course, someone is willing to write to VKI to get permissionAztech wrote:Does anyone have any Interesting Audio to Post?

I dont understand. How can they run a Live Scanner on Waix LEGALLY, but not post audio clips. What copyright laws would we be breaking?vk6hgr wrote:I hate to be a party pooper, but I'd much rather we didn't. As interesting as that would be, it would be a breech of copyright. Who says the live scanner stream is legal?Aztech wrote:I dont understand. How can they run a Live Scanner on Waix LEGALLY, but not post audio clips. What copyright laws would we be breaking?

This would need proper legal advice from someone experienced with the ins and outs of copyright law, but perhaps it's because the scanner stream is live, but a recording is not ... who knows!
For our best understanding of the issues regarding recording what you hear on the scanner, please see FAQ entry 13

I worked for FESA last year and we had a request from Channel 7 for some recorded audio of a 000 call and the radio chatter that followed the 000 call. Our line manager at the time authorised this audio to be sent to Channel 7.
The Fire Services Manager got word of it and called an urgent meeting with staff involved. Turns out that what we did was illegal. We had to demand the audio back from Channel 7 and this wasn't an easy task!
We were further told that it is legal to listen to the audio and record it, but recording the audio for the purposes of repeating or broadcast is illegal.
Hope this helps clarify the matter.
