Just seen the ARGUS unit in action in Cannington. WAPOL had a few cars pulled over from it, as you drove past the bus, you could hear the radio/ARGUS operator telling who to pull over.

Isn't that the camera that recognizes number plates and runs them up automatically?

They had Argus setup yesterday In Mirrabooka from what the officers were saying its part of there xmas blitz. They must be doing a different region each day.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition

The implementation of ANPR units occurred inlate 2004. The WA Police Service presently hastwo units for enforcement. As referred topreviously, one unit has been placed with the‘Booze Bus’ operations and is in continuous useand the other unit is allocated to districts forspecial operations. ANPR equipment units have been named ‘Argus’ for operational use.

Yeah I searched and couldnt find. ARGUS does not stand for Automatic Number Plate Recognition, thats what it does.
