Spring Cleaning

Post by Zebedee »

It's probably time to give our resource material a bit of an update and a spring-clean.

Now that the WAPOL callsigns are back on the forums, is there anything that's obviously wrong or out of date that should be fixed?

The original callsigns were put together from information gathered right at the commencement of the two-letter-three-digit callsigns system. Obviously there's been quite a few changes since then.

Feel free to post corrections or additions to this topic for inclusion in the revised versions of the documents.

OK after starting this thread off, I've had a chance to think a little more about how to make this work reasonably well...

What I'm proposing is that people check out the original document (linked from the first post in the thread) and post in here anything that's changed or not there.

Once we've got a good selection of responses (let's say till the end of November) then we'll evaluate all the postings and cross check to make sure we're getting things right.

We can then publish a draft revised callsigns list and once we're as sure as we can be that we're not making any silly mistakes, the draft will become a the "2005 Edition" and take the place of the original document on the Frequencies and Callsigns sticky thread.

What a good idea Zededee,

My suggestions/changes are:

Traffic vehicles now carry 'A' at the start of the call-sign to denote the fact that they are tfaffic. e.g. AZ204 formerly ZM204.

I think traffic cars for the metro area should be listed seperately.

These stations aren't 'operational' anymore:

ZA Maylands
ZJ Innaloo
ZN North Perth
GN Nedlands
GX Claremont
JV Victoria Park
NB Ballajura- Now HB as in Midland District

Agreed.

Thanks to Tom and to everyone else who has made contributions. (As well as this sticky'd thread, I've been trolling through older posts to the forums where people have mentioned callsigns they've heard.)

Here's what I have so far:

CALLSIGNS TO ADD AFTER VERIFICATION:
  • Ax20x : District traffic cars (Do we need to know how many cars in each district, e.g. 201-2??)
Ax21x : Unmarked district traffic car?
    Ax25x : District crash car?
    TB401-40x : Booze buses
TE202-206 : Traffic Operations Group (Assume Cars)
TE212 : Traffic Operations Group (Assume Cars)
TE700-7xx : Traffic Operations Group (Assume Bikes)
    TQ301-304 : Bike Education Unit
    UQ101-116 : Regional Operations Group
    UQ200-206 : Police Transit Unit
    UQ301-302 : Perth Watch House
    UQ600-606 : Prison Unit Base / Vehicles
WT851 : Joondalup Police Academy Security
REMOVE THESE STATIONS:
  • GN Nedlands
    GX Claremont
    NB Ballajura
    JS South Perth
    JV Victoria Park
    ZA Maylands
    ZJ Innaloo
    ZN North Perth
ADD THESE STATIONS:
  • HB Ballajura
    JK Kensington
OTHER / RANDOM THOUGHTS:
  • Do we include information about classes of vehicles and how they relate to giving priorities / pursuits?

Zebedee,

Mate - you have some fantastic ideas - I actually think it would be a good idea to include info on classes of vehicles and how they relate to giving pursuits and priorities etc.

Class 1 - Fully marked Police Special
Class 2 - Unmarked Police Special
Class 3 - Vans, M/Cycles
Class 4 - Vehicles with no lights/siren and 4WD (me thinks)

I think this list Walks posted a while back should be included on the list, I just like someone to clarify what class Vans and 4WD's come under.

I think it would be a little confusing in giving out vehicle classes/types on each individual call-sign. For example Clarkson:

NC101 is a marked 4WD Rodeo Class 4, NC102 is an unmarked sedan Class 2 and NC103(201) is a marked sedan with vector light-bar Class 1 and NC616 is a marked sedan used by APLO's Class 1, it would just get too confusing in my opinion, especially when vehicles get replaced.

For some strange reason NC103 uses dual call-signs, sometimes it uses NC103 when doing tasking and today it was using a traffic call-sign of NC201.

TE201, 202, 203, 205, 206, 207, 209, 210, 211 and 212 are now all used by TE officers and Booze bus staff so it might be an idea just to include TE201-212.

Don't forget TB217, it's a marked VY Commodore. I think he is the Multinova operator supervisor.

cheers
