CD601 & CD602

Post by radiohead »

Hi all

Last Friday on Freo channel there was a chase involving 3 POI's in a Commodore which ended in the underground carpark of the Phoenix Shopping Centre. Polair had been following them and a heap of cars had been chasing them in and out of bush tracks and roads. When the car went into the carpark obviously Polair couldn't track them anymore. The last I heard was the POI's ditched the car and went into the shops!

It was really interesting hearing it unfold, they covered various terrains over the course of about 20mins! I don't know how it ended, the last I heard was they were looking at video surveillance in the centre manager's office.

Anyway one of the GD lady officers asked VKI for an incident car to attend a few times then CD601 & 602 popped up but I think they just said to call their office to get someone to attend the matter.

I was surprised to hear those CD callsigns and was just wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share what they are/do.

Thanks

Jo :D

I was under the impression that CD was - Major Crime Investigation Prision liaison + Missing persons Investigation + Child Abuse Investigation + Arson Investigation + Major incident group (MIG) + Macro Task Force.

I'd hate to pop all of your balloons but here's the lowdown on callsigns.. CD6** is Prison Unit.. However, Prison Unit will very shortly by folded into the Major Crime Squad instead of being a seperate entity, giving them more resources etc.. Will they keep their callsigns, lets hope so as it's confusing enough as it is.. UQ6** is Regional Investigations Unit - an metropolitan wide investigative squad who concerntrate on serial, major and violent crimes that cross district boundries and require a more 'personal' touch.. Arson Squad is CD4**; CA5** is Gang Response Unit; CF1** used to be forensic but they're changing to TG1** as they're no longer a partof the Crime portfoio but now attached to the Traffic and Operations Support portfolio..

Confused ?? Join the club...

As Whiskey1 says CD4** is Arson Squad; CA5** is Gang Response: TG1** is the new call sign for Forensic who commenced their move to their new home in Midland on Monday and now fall under the T.O.P.S. porfolio.
