Not really a spectrum analyser, just a 2.4GHz analyser. I use the Inssider software (free) quite a bit. It works with any standard wi-fi device but you don't get the extra features of the Wi-Spy device.

Yeah, I just download and tried the inSSIDer ... impressive ... especially for a freeware ... Open Source too ... that's even better ...
What do you use it for ? Just to play around or is it anything to do with your work ?

I use it at home to make sure our network remains on an unused channel and that the signal is usable where it's needed in the house. I run the WAP at low power so it isn't radiating any further than necessary. We have 3 PCs and three laptops on the wifi.
I use it at work right now as part of establishing a link between a main building and a remote building 2km away using directional antennae. There's no line of site from building to building so I'm trying to find the best place for a pole or whether the roof itself is suitable. Inssider is perfect for this sort of thing. You can buy hardware to do the job but why would you?

Hello Blinky, I had a look at the Signal Hound website ... the device is massive isn't it ... It looks more sophisticated and definitely more expensive ... Thank's for the link ...
