spam...

Re: spam...
Because administrators & moderators have to work for a living and don't have time to monitor spammers on here 24/7.

Re: spam...
It seems to come and go in waves. They're not actually bots (we have systems in place to prevent that). It's more likely real humans, passing the CAPTCHA test and then spamming the forums.
As soon as one is noticed or reported, the next available mod or administrator deletes the posts and bans the user account that created them. Depending on people's schedules and when they have time to jump online, it can be anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours before the spam is deleted.
But fear not - we will get to it eventually!

Re: spam...
Maybe it needs a moderator to allow the initial posting instead of just the CAPTCHA test and then automatic granting, if thats possible. More work for a mod I know. If the spammers cannot spam immediately maybe they won't bother coming back.Zebedee wrote:It seems to come and go in waves. They're not actually bots (we have systems in place to prevent that). There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those who do not.

That would take away the instant, real-time aspect of this forum, which is one of its strongest point, especially during incidents.

Re: spam...
Correct - plus it's more work for the mods and let's face it, everyone here has a life outside of WARSUG so there's no real advantage in burdening someone with extra duties when ultimately it doesn't really matter all that much. The amount of spam we get is miniscule in comparison to other sites and the easiest thing to do is either just ignore it or click the "report post" button. It'll get removed in due course.Mug wrote:That would take away the instant, real-time aspect of this forum, which is one of its strongest point, especially during incidents.
