And what about the 22nd July? Can that be a rough approximation of Pi day?
22nd July would be the exact value of Pi day, where 14/3 is the approximation.
22/7 = 3.142857143
pi = 3.141592654
(my trusty old casio)
22/7 is close and was the old standard for teaching, but is still only an approximation. A good enough approximation for most everyday things though.

Really only in the USA where it is 3-14
Everywhere else it is 14/3
So can we assume that March 14th 2015 will be Pi to 5 significant figures day?
And what about the 22nd July? Can that be a rough approximation of Pi day?
Like the US President, I like Pi, and Pie.
In other news, saw one of the older Mazda pumpers parked up outside FESA in Picton/Halifax down in Bunbury. Is this being retired?
Mazda pumper was down here for strructural fire course that i was on. Was glad i was able to use our pump for the practical part of the course. gave me a bit of an advantage over the others.
