There is only one person who knows what the Police Officer saw. Who's to say there wasn't an officer 'hiding' to observe the stop sign and radioing down the road to other officers.

If you want to know the answer, plead not guilty, ask for disclosure from the Magistrate and see for yourself the evidence against you.
