nye fireworks... Wth?

Post by Nafenn »

apparently the nye fireworks at gloster (sp) park went off with more of a "kaboom" then a "bang".

Anyone know what happened?

Nope but listening to streaming FESA there's been a couple of things like backyard fires, so I suspect they aren't the only ones :)

AE texted me and mentioned that the fireworks caused a small scrub fire again.

Why are fireworks permitted during high fire danger? It's not rocket surgery

Bassendean 2nd where there for fireworks supervision.
wasn't that big fire. 2m x 2m. just ran up the hill.
Funny thing happened, A SES member , in his overalls, came and helped.
When i asked where the rest off his group was, he said he was by himself!

Oh and robbage, NYE just wouldn't be the same without fireworks :D

Fireworks seemed pretty stock standard to me Nafenn. Full 15 mins worth from 23:45 till 00:00. But they did seem to let a whole bunch off right at the end for a big crescendo finish. Absolutely awesome sitting right under them with the sound pressure waves hitting us as well as the sound.

Job well done Philby. Where were you guys waiting before the fire started? Seems like you were able to pounce on it quite quickly. For about a minute 20,000 people were more interested in the fire on the hill than the expensive fireworks going off overhead   .
Must say though, we were on the grass at the bottom of the hill and it looked like more than 2x2. Would have guessed more like 3m x 10m as it ran up the hill.
Didn't realise it was you guys (Bassendean 2nd) till we were walking back to our car and you passed us a couple of times. Were you in the LT or Pumper?

Thank AE. I was at the bottom of the hill waiting for it to go up.
I was in the Light Pumper (OIC). The Crew in the Lt managed to reverse over the hose off the hose reel at the top off gate 15 so we only had the front hose to work with
