If you use Firefox, like it, but don't follow the news, read this

http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=23871

Essentially, Firefox 3.0 release version official availability date is 17th. That's today. It isn't there yet, but it's only 5.30 am USA time as I type.

My personal opinion is that it rocks my socks (although I think the new toolbar style is fugly.. but that's what skins are for). If you use some obscure add-ons that you can't do without, you might want to check if they have been updated to be compatible first.

Also, read the bit about Guinness World record. Maybe you want to help out.

If you're still using Internet Exploder then Firefox is the cure :-)

Same with me. I did away with windows and IE a long time ago. I use Ubuntu Linux 8.04 (64 bit) and have been running the Firefox 3 beta for quite some time. Can't wait for the final release to come out, and hopefully more addons will be supported and I won't be forced to use the nightly tester tools :)

I've made my pledge to download, and I don't see why they will fail on a world record!

Release candidate 3 is very stable. The only bug I've noticed is artefacts in the status bar some times. In the meantime, here's an update:

Available at 1700 UTC which is 1am our time I believe. I won't be waiting up :)

First thing I did this morning apart from sleeping in to hopefully get rid of this cold before it sets in was download FF3...working sweet! displaying everything 100% except for the work portal but meh it's only a little stretched! No problems at yet though with the display of WARSUG or facebook

Working well on XP. Looks damned fine on OSX. About to find out on KDE.

(That would be a beta version or release candidate, Smithy)

Bookmarks toolbar still doesn't break to make multiple rows. Hopefully the old hack still works.

Some FF plugins that are most certainly worth a mention:

DownThemAll!
Foxmarks Bookmark Syncronizer
Adblock Plus

I use all of these daily and they are awesome.

Tab Mix Plus used to be worthwhile. CA made a link detective thing which was utter crap. It gives you the address of the website owner but would stick on the screen so when you switched to another program the address was always in front of everything.
