Historic motor racing

Hi all,

I don't know how many of you are interested in any kind of motor racing, but in early November there's a big international event being held up at Barbagallo Raceway. It's being called the "Perth International Historic Challenge" and this will be the first time this event has run here. The reason why it's starting now is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Australian Grand Prix (which was held at the Caversham circuit, the predecessor to Barbagallo Raceway).

So far there's around 65 entries, 15 or so of them from overseas or interstate. This will be a major event for anyone with an interest in the racing cars of yesteryear.

If you're interested, keep an eye on the WA Sporting Car Club's website for more information. There's already two flyers out - here and here.

But wait ... there's more ;)

If you're interested in getting in on the action and not simply spectating, there could be some opportunities to volunteer as an official over the weekend. You need to be aged 16 or older (if under 18 you need parental permission of course) and all training, instruction, supervision, lunches, etc is provided. PM me if you'd like to know more. You don't need to have had any motor sport experience, you just need to be keen and interested! As an official, you get much closer to the action than the spectators do, and you'd be part of making the event the huge success that we all hope it will be.
