auntys_eyes wrote:Even though i work in TV (and for Fox), i can't see the point in paying for something i can get for free. Buy a High Definition Set Top Box (HD-STB) for less than a hundred dollars, and you can get 9 channels crystal clear on your existing TV right now and there are more "free to air" (FTA) channels coming.
Yeah but the standard Foxtel Platinum package has 79 channels (+5 HD, Main Event etc) and the programs are FAR better than free to air in my opinion.
I think it depends on how much TV you watch. Im a big fan of bumming around watching tv for hours on end.
Also IQ2 (HD) has 4 tuners built in (2 in IQ)

In fact there are 10 if you include SBS News
Saw an ad on TV tonight promoting the new "Free View" initiative, a co-operation between the 5 free-to-air networks, promoting the free-to-air digital services. The ad refers to 15 channels being available in 2009.

Exactly. How can anyone possibly need 79 channels?
