A little while ago the police targeted the back streets of Scarborough and Doubleview late at nite and busted unlicensed and drunk drivers, they also got a few unroadworthy's off the road.

I think this is a great tactic as a lot of people use Duke St, Weaponess Rd, Brighton Rd and St. Brigids Tce as a back road if under the limit and hence the success of targeting these roads.

Interestingly Duke and Brighton is where Michael Gardiner came to grief.

Japan airliner in spectacular emergency landing
Friday Apr 18 09:41 AEST

A Boeing airliner operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA) has made a spectacular emergency landing in Japan overnight.

The jet sent out a stream of sparks before screeching to a stop after it was forced to turn back minutes after take-off due to mechanical problems.

Once the plane landed, a thick trail of golden sparks flew out of its main landing gear.
