Favourite Fishing Spot

Post by Rockjet »

Have been reading up on fishing lately as a Kalbarri trip is coming up soon and would like to know everyone's favourite spot (for those who indulge in line wetting) and the biggest you've caught at your spot. Even a pic or two if you wish!!! 8)

My biggest was off the coast of Karratha, 1.24m Spanish Mackeral.. Took me half an hour to bring it in, that was on a charter though. Have caught many in fresh water in the Kimberley, always barra, 90cm was the biggest of those, make nice eating!

My best was a 1kg NW Snapper off the US Navy jetty in Exmouth. (Dad's mate worked there and got us on it.) I was about 11 and caught it with the old hand reel. Problem was I kicked the reel, that was sitting on the jetty next to me, into the water! Thus I was left with a length of line in one hand, the reel and fish both about 5m below me in the Exmouth Gulf. :o

Mine would have to be when I was running my own business in Mandurah a few years ago. Mondays & Tuesdays were always quiet so I would take my 12ft fibreglass with 25hp motor about 300mts outside the entrance with a couple of cold drinks, sangers, diary and mobile phone. This was my office. Mostly caught whiting, flathead and the odd bream, didnt really matter just being out on the water wetting a line relaxing while at work. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
