That is TE204 - I am yet to have the opportunity to photograh this.
I believe i have seen TE209 & TE211 also as new blue vehicles.

w_f - if you are ever out Midland way that's were they are most prolific, as the TEG HQ is now in the old Midland Railway Workshops precinct 8)
Thanks AE - Seeing that I have resigned from my City position and heading into local government you never know where I'll get my next set of pictures from.

On the other hand covering the emergency lights makes the car appear innocent till you see the woman/man on the side of the road wearing a yellow vest indicating you to pull over...

Whilst I'm struggling to find a suitable picture, you will find the boot of most vehicles (definitely the wagon's) will obscure the light bar :(

Example and this.
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

Ahhh yes I *have* seen this on *a* WA Police vehicle featured on The Force.

However that's the only time I've seen it, so I don't think many vehicles have that installed. But yes many overseas (NZ & US) have that.

Heck even the stock new generation of RAC van's have LED flash units in the rear boot door when its up.

Speaking of RAC they could always get the ones that lift up in the air on a scissor jiggy or have the micky mouse lights that swing out

Hah I've raised that before :D

But yes anyway also the next best thing (again usually overseas) is putting a couple of flashers in the boot under the lid so when its up they turn on and face backwards.

I'm sorry but what on earth are you on about.... Its not like they race to calls with the boot open is it?

The boot is open to uses such as what Tyranus stipulated.

LOL.. yes i have never ever known an open boot to be a safety hazard by blocking lights... anyway the boot is only ever opened for the SHORTEST amount of time... its never left open especially unattended... and the hi-vis markings are not any more visable than the standard markings from the rear of the vehicle... my oppinion is that if you cant see an emergency vehicle when its lights are operated, regardless if the boot is open or closed.. you are NOT paying enough attention and should not be driving on the road?!

Whoa! I've seen traffic cars on numerous occasions parked on the side of the road with the boot open and officers sitting/leaning on the back of the car operating laser speed detectors. They leave the boot open to hide the lights to conceal the fact they are doing speed checks.

The NSW cars have flashing reverse lights and blinkers when the lights are activated , a fair few of the cars have now replaced the reverse lights with blue and red led's

There is a difference however between a Police vehicle at a crime/accident/other incident where flashing lights and visibility are required (especially if on the road), compared to be parked without the need for any lights or visibility.
