Why is wickham traffic car pw202 and dampiers pd201?

What do you mean by that?

Possibly Wickham has another vehicle (unmarked?) which is PW201.
Maybe they found it easier to remove the S when it was PS202 to turn it to PW202.

Anyone know for sure?

Wickham only has one Traffic car, currently with the callsign PW202. The vehicle was formerly a Traffic car in South Hedland with the callsign PS202. When the vehicle was transferred the 'S' was changed to a 'W' but changing the last number from a '2' to a '1' was either forgotten, overlooked or not considered a necessity . The Wickham officers were quite bemused when i asked them what their other Traffic car was . When i said "well if that is 202, what kind of car is your 201?" they explained the situation.

Dampier also only has one Traffic car with the more standard PD201 callsign.
