Seen a RAAF Carraboo fly over on Tuesday.May be what they jumped from.

There was one on Wednesday that flew over the area mid morning too.

yeah, "wombat 47", he was doing "airworks" in the fremantle area on thursday (we were coming back into jandakot from the east, and heard his calls

Yeah, I saw the Emu Airlines Caribou fly backwards during take-off into a headwind.

I saw it take off often from the ATC tower where I worked and flew to Learmonth on it. That was about a 7½ flight each way :smt078

I'm missing something here.

Aren't the Caribou's Wallaby Airlines? which sqaudron has an emu as their insignia?

The caribou is a perfect STOL aircraft, its a pity their replacement Beech king air & C130J's midterm are not sufficient

Definately known as Wallaby Airlines for any RAAF aircraft flight, Wallby is also the call signs for Caribou. Emu was used during Vietnam as a call sign for "slicks" or helicopters from 9 Sqn RAAF that had been modified with various weapons. Emu is the common call sign for Blackhawks as they are the succesors to 9 Sqn when RAAF handed helo duties to Army.
