Here is something I caught on the way home this evening, Car V Car on Main St x Cape St:
(Apologies for the blurries, the light had faded, notice how close the Police van is to the pump! Its about 2cm from the bumper!)

Judging by the pics I'd say the Police van was on scene before the pumper, and the pumper has reversed into that spot to get closer to the wreckage

There was another flatbed behind UQ102
At least 4 more towies drove past afterwards as well.

I'd suggest that before you make comment about tatics, you get ALL of the facts first. What was the risk of fire? There may be no fuel leak, battery disconnected, so reisk of fire is very low? Maybe they had to get the person out NOW, so all hands are needed to get the person out. There is alot more to incidents than can just be read into one photo. By the way it is very commmon (especially staff crews) to lay the hose reel out and leave it on the ground.BuddahFRS wrote:hmm, no one on the hose reel, thats a no no.

Unfortunately Buddah is right, that line of hose should technically have been manned however if the SO was explaining how a rescue was to be conducted it would benefit the person who is going to be on the end of the hose to listen so they can work out where they are likely to be required. Ultimately it falls down to the station officer as he's made the decision. Thanks for the pictures Yorky.Road Crash Rescue Learning Manual wrote:For FRS Brigades, Fire Service Brigades and Emergency Service Units involved in road crash rescue, a charged line of hose or high pressure hose reel is to be attended at all times in case a fire should develop whilst the rescue is in progress. A firefighter in level 2 protective clothing must be standing by with a charged line of hose and a dry powder extinguisher on the edge of the action circle

Great pics yorky thanks for posting.
The Fire/Rescue crews always do a good job off protecting the scene at a t/a nice and close just the way it should be.
I feel sorry for the towies now relying on people ringing them for a prang rather than scanner chasing or driving around to main accident hot spots when sja drop a P1 lets say for example in ossie park.

That cop car looks like it has hit the fire truck! Must have been close...
