Took these pics while up in Geraldton for Christmas. While passing by saw that the doors were up so thought it a good opprtunity to have a look. Spoke to one of the career guys who filled me in on what's what.
The career crews occupy the right side of the building and have their trucks in the right bay, and the vollies have the left side of the building and left bay.
One of the newest units in the fleet sharing a garage with one of the oldest.
The vollies have a recently issued new Country Pump (CP10) and an LT (behind)
While the career crews have an old ACCO that started life as a Heavy Pump and was refitted as a Medium Pump Heavy Rescue (MPHR 58) and one of the new V8 LT (behind)

Rumour is that these country mphr (accos) are going to undergo a further rebuild rather than be replacedHopefully Geraldton are on the list for a new MPHR!

Consider the age.... they still look awesome.....realfirie wrote:Rumour is that these country mphr (accos) are going to undergo a further rebuild rather than be replacedHopefully Geraldton are on the list for a new MPHR!
Mind you, how did the vollies get the new appliance over the career?
Do vollies get much call outs?
I've closed the door!
Re: Geraldton FRS & VFRS
The Volunteers only had a single cab GPA which meant a maximum of three turning out at any one time. Now they can turn out a whole crew with the CP and LT. (I was under the impression they still had the GPA.)

i would think so!, considering that they would be the only backup available to the perms and that there is also a large area outside Geraldton itself that would need coverage for MVA and Hazmats and other incidents
Re: Geraldton FRS & VFRS
and would that be an ENGEL i can see in the middle of the CP nice i think they should be standard issue on all country appliances

No I think you'll find that's the centre console much like you'd get in your own personal car.

Re: Geraldton FRS & VFRS
Looks like it's behind the front seats to me. In our 2.4 and other CP's I've seen the consoles are never white and never that high. It's usually black metal.

Re: Geraldton FRS & VFRS
The vollies GPA is away being repaired and the LT was the "replacement" vehicle. In the middle of the CP is a plastic tub with all the DBA lists and HERG's etc... (the Waco is in a locker!!)
