I would have thought that to pass DPI registration as an ambulance (and be permitted to use red & blues), that the vehicle would have to be registered (number plate) in WA. The ex-Melbourne GMC ambulance that Metro Ambulance Service is running here, has been re-licenceced with WA plates.

Auntys_Eyes.

I always though you had 3 months if that to transfer your rego over to W.A if you were living here permantley as a emergency vehicle i doubt it would be able to be used as one.

I think the lights are more for show than anything.

Able to be registered here as they are federally recognised and can transport under priority conditions as far as im aware . AMS are not currently recognised by any governing body as far as im aware and have seen nothing to evidence this so go figure lol.

Fair call... Though my understanding of the DPI Regs is that to have red & blues fitted requires a permit. By going to the DPI for said permit i presume they would inspect the vehicle, and require it to be registered in WA (i may be wrong).

If there is no requirement for the vehicle to perform Priority 1 UDD, it should not have red & blue lights. Other first aid/medical providers operate with amber lights.

Although the Royal Surf Life Saving Society first aid van is still operating with red & blues

I quite agree with you on this one A_E.... very true... SJA VFAS had asked for along time to have red lights only or magenta, kept getting rejected by SJAA.

Funny how things are different though in the eastern states....

It's not up to SJAA who gets them or not.

VFAS operate as a First Aid Post, and Foot Patrols

A first Aid Post does not move, its a Post, and therefore does not need Red and Blues, Reds or even Magenta

VFAS operates Static First Aid Posts, Foot Patrols, Bike Team and a Retrival Team (which there are 2 vehicles that move and collect casualities)
Those two Vehicles can be seen at events such as Red Bull Air race, Subi Oval, Australia Day, Major Concerts and Royal show

Magenta lights are for government statutory bodies only. (eg DPI transport inspectors)

SJA are not that so won't have them.
