Today, the Southwest Bushfire Games were held in Bridgetown. I thought I had better take some photo's for posting here

This is a panorama shot of the Bridgetown Showgrounds. Scroll right to see in full.
Your browser may adjust the image to suit the screen. In that case usually clicking the image reverts to full size.
This was taken during the lunch break. Thats why the ground is empty of people.

Is that a horn or siren below the front plate on the quad? I'd give way to that if I saw it behind me on the highway :-D

No it's Oakford 9.2

You should be able to see it a bit better in this one.

Yeah one of the SES were driving it. I quite liked it. Even got the red and blues under the luggage carrier.

Ahh yes much better in that picture, I did wonder if it was a 9.2 but incorrectly decided against it.
That HF Antenna on the quadie is a manual tune. I.e. when the frequency goes past a certain point the rider has to change a plug into a different socket.
I'd say the speaker was for a siren/PA If it's a SES quad bike with standard HF they should have a small speaker for the HF which may be mounted on the bike or if they use the transportable HF sets in orange boxes then it will be mounted in that.
I'll get a photo some time of our portable HF's and create another thread for SES equipment.

Join Wanneroo SES unit, they have 2 which you can learn how to ride. In fact I believe they're working with the Police to gain the ATV qualification that the police issue.

I did my quad training course in the dunes at Swanbourne. That was awesome. Watching the uh.. locals ripping through there on 6 wheel Polaris's is fun as well. Those things don't stop for small trees.
