Hey all... came across this the other day while sittin at a red light. Never seen it before and found it strange that a First Aid vehicle would have R+Bs. Anyone know anything more about this vehicle???

There is some discussion about this in other sections. Try the SJA section

seems like they allow anyone these days to put blues and reds on their car.

In case any of you guys want to pimp up your corollas, red dot is selling magnetic red, and blue battery powered emergency lights these days for $3.95

Why they sell this I dunno but its just asking for trouble.. Just like lasers.

If that is a first aid post then surely it is illegal to have red and blue lights, all VFAS and SJA transport vehicles have to have amber????

They may have special dispensation from DPI for urgent driving duties. (Vehicles with red & blue lights are classed by DPI as a Priority 1 vehicle for responding to life threatening emergencies.)

Correct eswife.

The Vehicle must be an "Ambulance" and must display insignia as such and must convey sick or injured persons to hospital to have the red n blues. First aid vehicles are not ambulances and are not permitted to have red/blues.

I needed to buy portable red flashing lights for work a while back. The safety equipment company wouldn't sell them until they got a note from my supervisor. I never thought of Red Dot

LOL.... to be honest.. the vehicle did look pretty poorly built.. I think i would rather ride in a horse float to get help than go for a ride in the back of this beast.

Don't they look like those Eastern States Rural Ambulances they use - the rear box is mounted on a late model Holden Ute - anyone remember these on the TV shows - I think Home and Away - years ago, had something like that???
