Excellent pics, guys. Just wondering, the Redbull 6 plane (can't quite make out the sponsor) - what are the red pieces fixed to the landing gear that say "Remove before flight"? Are they some type of wheel protector or brake lock??

Gday Chicky , what you are seeing is actually a bit of an optical illusion. The remove before flight flag is actually attatched to black plastic cover that is shielding the pitot tube and this is placed out towards the end of the wingtip and not touching the wheel at all. Fair question though now that I look at it.
Cheers.

Thanks for that, Always RX :) What exactly is a pitot tube then?

It's what planes and choppers use to measure their airspeed - more info can be found here.

Here's two shots I grabbed of PolAir while she was on the ground in South Perth:

I work for the freight company that has the GLOBAL contract for the importing/exporting and transport for the RBAR series. I have some AWESOME snaps of the operation from the unloading of the planes at perth airport, Moving them down Roe Hwy in a convoy to Jandakot. And a good photo of the planes sitting in our Customs Bond warehouse.

We had a window of less than 20 hrs to get all the broadcast equipment that they bought in them selves onto planes to China to cover some sporting event 2 days later... Also just to let you know the extent of work involved with this event.. We actually started preparing for 2007 RBAR only 1 WEEK after the 2006 event.

a little bit of a fun fact for you all.. The organisers actually chartered a Boeing 747 cargo jet to transport the planes and their helicopter from country to country... instead of the cargo plane departing straight after it was unloaded.. they payed to have it sit on the Tarmac at PERTH Intl for 5 days.... now thats a loooooooot of $$$ being spend there..
