Helitac Pics @ Boya

Post by auntys_eyes »

Got an opportunity to film all four of the Helitacs whilst working on the Gooseberry Hill fire this arvo. They were using Boya Oval as their 'air base'. FESA said they would ask ABC for the vision for training and promotional stuff. :)

Took the chance to get some stills in the process. The air base manager, pilots and crews were really cool about letting me get up close and personal. Even got a photo in the cockpit of 669(Red).

Sorry about the quality/resolution of some of the pics as i only have an old 2mp 'happy snapper'.

Great action shots there auntys_eyes.
Having Helitaks available must be a godsend. I'm sure many a life/house has been saved due to them.

Its interesting to see what they do when a lake isn't available. Would be a nice dip when taking a break from the fire front.

Nice shots. Shame the action shots were a little blurry. Interesting seeing the Helicopters Australia trucks there too. Looks like fuel supply to me.

I had a family get-together this evening in darlington, and drove past boya oval on the way. I think there were three choppers on the ground at the time. when I arrived at my destination the Helitaks were flying close by, flying low and fast like they were in vietnam during the war. must be enjoyable to fly like that, even under those circumstance.

Great shots mate! I had no idea they were different colours like that. They all look the same when they are in the sky above you...
