Whiteman Park Fire Pics

Post by Froggles »

Hey all,

The Whiteman park fire was just up the road from me, so i went for a stroll with my camera and took a few shots. Thought you guys might like to have a squizz.

The officers in TE222 were kind enough to let me take a few shots of their vehicle - even struck a pose for me :) (God the XR6T's are hot beasts)

The helicopters were passing over my house almost so i took a few snaps of them. I also got a FRS truck or two.

I have some short videos I'm gonna chuck up if anyones interested?

BTW Froggles, the second pic you have 'FRS 2' is actually a DEC Wanneroo appliance.

I knew i would get picked up on for the fiery vehicles (Ive got no idea lol). Thanks for that Fastlane - Nice pic too bro

Heres the few vids i was talking about, i don't think they are really worth posting as my good camera decided to die out. I ended up using my old 2 mega pixel camera for the vids. They are subsequently all under 10 seconds long

Right click and save as and hopefully you will be able to open them with the player of your choice. If not, theres always VLC Here

Nice pic's JG.. I think South Yunderup/Ravenswood are a Bush Fire Brigade - can see a BFS logo on the door. There are a few red bushfire appliances about now, due to them receiving refurbished ex-FRS appliances.

And is it just me, or are the beacons on that truck mismatched!?

For a while most of the VBFS Brigades in Merredin Shire had red appliances - as you said correctly, refurbished FRS vehicles. (From memory Hines Hill VBFS has Merredin VFRS's old LT.) Westonia Shire also has a red LT.

Yes, the lights appear to be mismatched.

Thanks fastlane. Yeah, just took a good look at it then and your right, at the time i didnt take that good of a look, just a quick snap.

Wasnt much left to mop up so the majority of the time i was taking pics

We were there for 8 hours and used 2 tanks of water to get unbogged, the only action we saw was when i hit a stag in the middle of no where - (middle of the fire) that the frs blokes wanted us to hit for some reason

But oh well, any time spent on the fire ground is good for me

Should make a sticker:
"a bad day on the fire ground beats a good day at work"

.. that depends on your definition of 'bad day on fireground'. Sunday afternoon was pretty 'bad'.
