it's all in the title: Volunteer Fire Service (VFS, not VFRS)

Incorrect, we where FRS when we got it.
We got to choose red or white, we chose white because the brigade got to keep the money that it would've cost to paint it.
We also had a white landrover dual cab light tanker.

What's the difference between VFS and VFRS. Obviously the rescue bit is gone but who undertakes the rescue services then if it's only volunteer fire service?

A VFS is a combination of a VFRS brigade and a BFB brigade. It has the roles and responsibilities of both.
