Nice pics! Does anyone know why the traffic escort vehicles have red/blue? Do they go P1/2? Just curious... #-o

Emergency escorts such as a crane going to recover a heavy vehicle over-turned at a TA perhaps? or similar. or maybe they just have red/blues because they can ?

It's not an officer. It's an unsworn WAPOL staff. If you look close he is wearing the old colour uniform that WAPOL country officers used to wear.

I don't know the exact legalities of why they have red/blue but I understand they are involved in the bigger escorts that the private escort companies need further help with.

No they don't go p1 or 2. They operate like the normal escort vehicles.

Mmm I think that was the case a while back, but now they are appointed as traffic escort wardens under the RTA and RT (Wardens) Regs. Their OIC is still a police officer i believe. Correct me if im wrong tho...

Probably have red and blues due to the size of the loads involved. Something that big probably doesn't move that fast. So say they are stopped at a set of lights and then go on the green it might take the whole cycle for them to get and up going or even longer.

The escorts can then block traffic using their vehicles and red and blues while the truck goes through on the red if they take a while to get going.

Just a guess

Unsworn Police staff... Qualified pilot operators. Vehicles do not go p2. Vehicles do have sirens. Sometimes use them when coming through our town at busy times. Have the ability to block roads/traffic and give green light corridors. When a load is going to be over a certain size they MUST have a police escort vehicle. Can't remember what the limit is before an escort vehicle is req....
