Rushed the shots as half way through they got turned out.

Nice photos, they certainly have a few appliances! Is the 2.4B technically the same as a 3.4 regarding water wise?

No, not really. Roughly 1000L less in the 2.4.
With fire appliances designated with a *.* callsign, the first number represents the water capacity to the nearest 1000L. This is a guide only as appliances can often have a few hundred litres more or less than the actual designation. But as ageneral rule a 1.4 would carry about 1000L, a 2.4 would carry about 2000L and a 3.4 would carry about 3000L etc. (If you're wondering, the second number will always be a 2 or 4 representing a 2 wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive vehicle)
Almost all Urban Tanker appliances will have a letter U, R or B after the numbers denoting whether the appliance is equipped as an Urban, Rural or Broadacre responder. Depending on the appliances location and the capabilities of the brigade, the Urban Tankers are fitted and supplied with different equipment. For example Urban vehicles carry equipment for structural fire fighting that Rurals and Broadacres don't.

couple of little questions...

What is the orange thing on the back of LT3 in the top picture? Are they bog mats or something?

What do the three lights ( orange, red and green) signify on the back of the older LT?

1st question they are maxtrax so bog mats in other words.
2nd question. that is the tank meter. how much water is left.
Red= go to hydrant empty
Orange= half a tank left
Green= full tank

The new batches of 2.4Bs have 2600L of water on board.

To tell the types of 2.4/3.4 apart, AFAIK, Urban appliances carry BA and other equipment for things structure fires, Rural appliances have a PTO driven pump, Broadacre appliances have an external powered (auxilliary) pump.

that would be good with that amount of water in 2.4s
