Re: General and Off Topic Pictures
Was out in the partenavia yesterday, doing asymetric flight (practicing engine failures), and our last one was a fully feathered shutdown... where we shut the engine off, and turn the propellor flat, to reduce drag (as seen above)

Re: General and Off Topic Pictures
propeller flat...do you mean horizontal like there or just so that it glides through the air with minimal breaking but doesn't matter whether the prop is vertical etc?

Re: General and Off Topic Pictures
recently, myself and doug (Zebedee) went out train chasing (the art of racing trains to the next photo point, and taking as many photos as possible) around the south west... here are some good shots
The Australind is a passenger diesel that transports pax from Perth station, to Australind (near bunbury). Here, in Wooroona, we spotted the signals activated (as country signals only activate when a train is approaching), and waited around for the train.
While heading from Brunswick Junction to follow a train line, we noticed another active (and green) signal along the route. doug decided it would be a good idea to keep driving up the line to meet the train, where as i wanted to return to the station and wait... we continued up the line, and ran into the train about 10 seconds later
The loco was a Liquid Caustic Soda train from a plant near collie to the Bunbury ports, pulled by a WAGR S-Class Locomotive.
when we first spotted the train
The Train approaching Brunswick Junction.
Leaving Picton Yards (near Bunbury)
Our last train of the night... a WAGR DD Class, pulling a... uhh... train - we didn't catch what it was pulling

Re: General and Off Topic Pictures
What do you mean about the signals??
the level crossing ones, as they are activeted by nodes on the track
Or the controll signals, they always run, atleast in merredin they did

Re: General and Off Topic Pictures
Country crossing loops etc, the signals are often "dark" until a train is due, then they are activated. So on country lines, if you see signals that are lit, there's a good chance a train is due "sometime soonish".AO11912 wrote:What do you mean about the signals??

I never noticed that in merredin, they were always red, and green when the train was due
