No and yes.
As far is i'm aware the only High Def OB gear that the ABC has is in Melbourne. One OB van and some studio gear.
If one of the broadcasters has HD requirements then the gear is flown/trucked over either in the form of an OB van or a 'suitcase' OB where gear is moved in roadcases and containers.

All of the cameras are operating all of the time. Each camera has a different job or view of the game and the director/switcher continuously cuts between each of the cameras to produce what you see at home. The camera operator knows when their camera is 'on air' by a red 'tally' light in the viewfinder and verbal instructions through the headphones.
