For those of you who would like to listen into WAPOL at home, try building one of these...
http://zapatopi.net/afdb/build.html

It must work because there is a wiki page about it!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_foil_hat
The efficiency of such an enclosure in blocking such radiation depends on the thickness of the tin foil, as dictated by the skin depth, the distance the radiation can propagate in a particular non-ideal conductor. For half-millimeter-thick tin foil, radiation above about 20 kHz (i.e., including both AM and FM bands) would be partially blocked.

I'd buy from Tower Communications if they had their prices on their website. Calling for quotes is so... old fashioned.

I very much agree there, if it's not on the net then it's not worth it...hence why I don't watch family video's anymore just bit torrented tv series haha ok maybe not that drastic, but who has the time these days??

Thanks Gavin! lol.
Oh gee anyway,
I found two Diamond antenna Models that ive got my eye on for when i get my ameture licence. It says that they are for the 70cm and 2m bands but im not sure if thats true, they dont state that they are for amateur radio use.

These are the models:
X50A
and the X-50M/N 2m/70cm 4.5/7.2dB gain, 1.7m long Antenna (coudlnt find a link for that one)

They both seem to do the do the same thing.
Im just not sure if these ones are suitable for ameteur radio. Does anyone use these models?

I have a Diamond X-200 at home but lost the securing screw/bolt when I moved house. :? That is used with the Yaesu FT-7800 I have here.

Just purchased a High Sierra Sidekick antenna to go with the FT-100D in the car. Also in there is a Series I Tait T-2020 for FRS purposes, a hands-free mount for a mobile phone and a Dell Axim X51v Pocket PC with GPS.

I also have an old Philips FM-92 for sale if any Foundation licence holders are looking for a cheap way to get onto 2m.

I agree with Gavin and Tyranus. I should also point out that I found the Strictly Ham website by Googling 'Diamond D777'.

On the roo-bar is one VHF/UHF vertical for 2m/70cm and one ground independent vertical for FRS VHF mid-band. The mobile phone antenna is at the moment a glass-mount but I am thinking of a rear boot-mount antenna.

The Sidekick will go on a removable Hayman-Reece tow-bar mount I have. The vertical whip will be detachable so it won't be a hassle to stow away safely.
