i wonder why they didnt mount the aireal on the lightbar, it would be higher and would make it harder to purposly snap off, it would still be too low to snap it off in under ground carparks ect. and possibley use less coax...

Possibly because the lightbar doesn't act as a very good ground plane and might general electrical noise.
Shouldnt be an issue as thats a ground independant antenna.
Lots of companies now are opting for smaller, low profile antennas cause they look "ugly"
Makes us techies richer when they need more repeaters to get better coverage!!!!
There's no point having the radio in the car if they dont have the correct aireal for it to do its job. im listening to a Tango car now, and the signal is shocking (car to repeater), not sure of its location but the repeater is in centeral park.
