Apparently a couple of people here are a bit worried about the original pictures so I've removed them. Here's a Dugite at the same location instead

Can i ask where you took these pictures?

I saw these at Palmer Barracks (Joint logistics unit west) about 2 months ago and was wondering wat they were for. I thought they were from over east cause they had envelopes inside them with address to different bases. Exept i saw something like 7 at palmer barracks.

Regards,
Joshua

I'd say that it looks like Campbell Barracks Rifle Range. Off the top of my head I don't think any other barracks has a live range on site. Irwin barracks has a WTSS (Weapons Training Simulation System)...or rather the vegetation :P

Sorry to disagree, in my experience, that is not a dugite, they do not grow that size and are brown.... http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q ... DcountryAU

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dugite Dugites are coloured grey, green or brown. As with most snakes, the colours vary widely between individuals and are an unreliable means of identifying species. Positive identification is best left to an expert, but the most reliable method of visual identification is by the shape of the head. In the case of a dugite, the head is small compared to the neck, and the head grades imperceptibly into the body. They can grow up to 2m long.

Campbell, about 2 metres from my workshop.

Bindoon, Northam, Lancelin and Muchea also has live ranges - although whether you'd call them 'barracks' is another thing. Irwin has WETS. We had a go of it a couple years ago as a returned favour. That was cool.

Yes, it is a dugite. As Wes said, the head and neck is the give-away

Thanks. It let me get with-in about 3 metres without getting upset. usually they bolt.

Sorry about pulling the pics. I got PM and e-mails from concerned people. Didn't want the site owner and admins getting flak. I did get permission to post vehicle pics from an NCO. I'll check again with someone a little higher up. You can see these vehicles coming and going from Campbell all the time.
