That's all I have, but have an antenna on my car, with the same connection as the aerial so they're interchangeable with each other :)

can anyone suggest a decent scanner to get for a newbie...... is it actually worth getting one even considering its goings digital???

My humble collection from left to right :
Sawtron KG-109 vhf-lo , Uniden UBC57xlt 20 chan , Uniden UBC92xlt 200 chan .
In the ute I have a GME tx3220 uhf and an Icom AC110 vhf and a spare bandspanner antenna to plug the 92xlt into. (pics of these were crap so i didnt bother :lol: )

Main radios at home:

Bottom radio is an ex-SA police Philips FM91 retuned to UHF CB. The grey radio is a Philips PRM8041 tuned for general UHF scanning and 70cm amateur. Radio above that is an ancient AWA RT-85 tuned for 6m amateur.

Above that is my new Yaesu FT-857D HF/6m/2m/70cm all mode amateur radio :-)

Beat-up old Tait T2020 VHF mid band for listening to the firies. (Cable coming out of the mic socket is connected to a circuit to enable it to go into scan mode. TX is disabled)

The Sawtron KG-109 - is what we use in VFAS - Bulky things they are but they do the job....
