I have found this to be a trusty and reliable bit of gear and it definitely ticks all your boxes - http://www.uniden.com.au/australia/p_ub ... p#features
The only thing I am not so keen on is the SMA antenna connector. You can of course use an adapter as I do for BNC, but I have had the "male part" of both the original rubber ducky SMA antenna and one of the BNC adapters break off inside the radio's antenna connector (very difficult to get out), this may be partly my fault as I carry the radio in a backpack and remove the antenna when I do and I also switch between antennas fairly often. Other than that small gripe, I would recommend it. There is a couple on Ebay if you would like to go down that path http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trk ... Categories

Thanks for that. They didn't come up in my ebay search #-o

Not the cheapest but I'll certainly keep my eye on them. The SMA connector turns me off it too...

Do you own this particular scanner? Do you know what kind of programming cable it should come with? Also the SMA to BNC connector, is this suitable? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RF-Antenna-Adapt ... 415605c8b6

Yep Ive had this one for a couple of years, the cable is an RS232 serial and the software is downloadable from the Uniden website. The connector you suggested will not suit as the SMA side is the wrong 'sex' i.e. that part in the picture is the same as what you will see on the radio.

What is the end on the radio side of the RS232? Couple of the sales don't come with a cable and I'm trying to see if I can make/use my own.

And I take SMA-Male is the connector required then? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BNC-female-SMA-m ... 335b2afade

Yep thats the right connector and I'll take a couple of pics of my cable and radio connections and post em up if you like as I am not sure how to describe them.
