Looking for a tait 2020 series 2 dedicated for fesa for in the car/ base radio.

You'll need permission from your chief/fesa to have one of these as they operate on a 'private' radio network..

If i get it disable from being able to transmit what is the difference between using a tait and a general radio scanner?

Good luck. They're highly sought after and they go on ebay for $500+.

This is why I use a Philips FM92 in the car for FESA. Cost me $5 at hamfest :-)

oh well, ill just buy either the tait 8250 or uniden 966t. least then i know its brand new

Tait 8250? Very nice but at $1124 that's a damn expensive scanner!

sorry, my mistake, the TM 8115, $900 or the 996t is just over $800, both from stores in perth

It's not worth it. FESA will be moving to UHF in the metro area soon...

hm, so they say, but i doubt it'll happen for another 2-3 years. Plus if thats the case, then why are they instaling the tait 8250's in ?? Both 8250 and the 8115 pick up the same if im not wrong, so if the 8250 can pick up uhf then so can the 8115?

The Tait 8000 series radios are monoband radios. If you buy a 66-88MHz radio now, then that's all it'll do. To upgrade to UHF you'd have to buy a UHF radio (you can keep the control head)
